41-N-11 Inside Swinghanger Trucks
Some cars are equipped with 41-N-11 trucks, also known as inside swinghanger trucks. These trucks need to have their ends snipped off in order to operate on curves between 22" and 28" radius. They will not operate on curves tighter than 22" radius. It is best to test the car on your tightest curve, and cut off the ends if they bind on the underframe. Use a small pair of nippers or flush cutters, and snip off the ends at the grooves. You will need to remove the trucks from the cars before attempting this.
IC and C&NW Baggage Car Replacement Program
As you may have heard, our Illinois Central baggage cars (106127-106132) and Chicago & North Western baggage cars (106121-106126) delivered in late 2008 had a misprint on one side. The car side reads either "Central Illinois" instead of "Illinois Central" or "Western & North Chicago" instead of
"Chicago & North Western". This is our fault - we screwed up on the painting diagrams.
Most people have already received free replacements for their affected cars. If you still have one of the affected cars and you have not yet requested your free replacement, please note the procedure below.
- You will not need to send back the incorrect cars. In order to receive you replacement cars, you will need to send both of the UPC codes - one from each end - from the boxes of the incorrect cars directly to us - Click Here to get our address.
- We only have a few replacement cars available. As so much time has passed since we announced this program, we can't guarantee your replacement car will be in stock. Please contact us before sending in your UPC codes.
- When your UPC codes arrive at our office, we will send you the replacement cars free of charge and we will pay the shipping charges.
- You are welcome to do what you wish with the incorrect cars once you have
removed the UPC codes: salvage them for the trucks, lighting and underbody
equipment; strip and repaint them; etc.
